[230] Dates based on Diuguid family Bible and on Bessie Roberts Diuguid's birth certificate. A hand-written note among Anna Christy Phelps' papers provides a death date.

The only picture of Charles [sic] or George Diuguid is a photograph on the back of which his granddaughter Anne Christy Phelps has written, "Great Grandfather Charles Diuguid, Paducah, KY, Attorney at Law." "He was an attorney in Paducah his whole life."

He also owned land in Henrico Co., VA. in 1762 as the State Archives show a will on page 1881 written by Joseph Bridgewater which states that his land adjoins that of William Diuguid. (Also see pg. 6 for Donald family in Henrico Co.) The following abstract taken from Albemarle Surveys: "William Diuguid of Albemarle Co. conveyed 156 acres on south side of Fluvanna River to Thos. McDaniel of St. Anne's Parish in 1748". "

On Nov. 26 1756, William Diuguid received 400 acres of land under Piney Ridge on a branch of Bent Creek, then Albemarle Co. (Patent 141 - 1756).

On 26 June 1759, William Diuguid received 400 acres on both sides of Horn Quarter Run of Willis River in Cumberland Co. (Patents No. 32756-61, page 577).

An old Surveyors plat book that survived the 1869 fire that burned the Buckingham Co. Court House and a copy held in the VA. State Library refers to properties of William Diuguid on several occasions.

[234] From her grandaughter, Anne Christy Phelps. Dates based on the Duiguid family Bible and on Bessie Roberts Diuguid's birth certificate.

[241] Dates from her daughter, Anne Christy Phelps.

In October 1918, Bessie was living in the Glasgow Apartments at 525 Turk and Larkin Streets in San Francisco. (Source: Western Union Telegram) In June, 1941, Bessie lived with her daughter Anita May in Little Rock, Arkansas. (Source: Social Security Board Form OA-C 703)

Death certificate gives her last address as 1574 - 78th Ave., Oakland. Her cause of death: Chronic nephritis, brought on by arteriosclerosis. She was buried in plot 11, Palm section, at Cypress Lawn in Colma, California. All dates based on birth and death certificates.

[324] Based on the family Bible and a hand-written note found among Annie Christy's papers. She resided in Wingo, Kentucky.

[327] Based on the family Bible, where his name appears as "W. Loranz". Annie Christy says he was called Lowell. A hand-written note shows his name as "Lo. William."

[331] Based on the family Bible and a hand-written note found among Annie Christy's papers.

[335] Based on the family Bible and a hand-written note found among Annie Christy Phelps' papers.

[339] Based on the family Bible and a hand-written note found among Annie Christy
Phelps' papers.

[343] Based on the family Bible and a hand-written note found among Annie Christy Phelps' papers.

[354] Based on the family Bible and on a hand-written note found among Annie Christy Phelps' papers.

In "Sunday Democrat", Paducah, Ky. the following: "May 7, 1954, Miss Annie E. Diuguid, 60 years old, died, daughter of Geo. C. and A. R. Diuguid, survived by 3 sisters: Mrs., D.T. Grace, Wingo, Ky., Mrs. E.B. Dunoy, Paducah, Ky. and Mrs. H.B. Houck, Little Rock. Ark."

It has been stated that Annie E. Diuguid died in Little Rock, Ark... She too is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Paducah, Ky. (From "William Diuguid of Buckingham County," Virginia, p 237)

[350] Based on the family Bible and a hand-written note found among Annie Christy Phelps' papers. Nita May's family address in June 6, 1945 was 100 S Valmar, Little Rock, Arkansas.

The Diuguid Family Bible end leaf appears to have been annotated by two different individuals. It was in 1941 in the possession of Mrs. Harry B. (Anita May Christy) Houck as certified by a Social Security Board Form OA-C 703, "Statement of Contents of Family Bible or Other Family Record.." Her sister, Bessie Roberts Christy, was living with her at this time. It is fair to assume the two hands are those of Bessie Christy and Anita May Houck. The publication data cited above has since been lost from the Bible.

[12409] Mr. Phelps settled in Mount Pleasant, Canada West, early in life, where he resided up to 1811, when, being very loyal to the United States, he made himself objectionable to the Canadian Government, and as a brother of his said -- "Was obliged to leave unceremoniously to save his neck." He went to Ind., and soon became connected with the Quartermaster's Dept., in the United States army, with a commission from President James Madison, as Captain. He was very strong in his belief that Canada at an early day would be annexed to the U. S. In this he was disappointed, and after the close of the War of 1812, removed to the western part of New York. In 1818 he removed with his daughter Lydia, to Washington Co., Ind., where he died.
