Mitcham, Lucy, Spotsylvania Co., d. Jan. 16, 1797. Executors Bond dated Dec. 4, 1798. Wit[nesses] Hugh Roy, Bartlett Russell, Will Waller. Ex[ecutor] son-in-law William Beazley, Richard Estes. Leg. daughter Mary Bates; [mentions first husband] Ambrose Carlton; three eldest daughters, Caty Estes, Elizabeth Beazley, Mary Bates; my last daughter Dorothy Beazley as provided for by the will of her late father James Mitcham. (Page 46)

The Spotsylvania County records Will Book D 1761-1772 shows that Beverley Stanard [a man] willed "a tract of land in Standford County, whereon Ephraim Beazley, my Overseer, now lives." Will was proved 7/1/1765.

Between Harry Beazley of Spotsylvania, VA to William Beazley and Elizabeth his wife, Ephraim Beazley and Dorothy his wife, Mathew Carpenter and Sarah his wife, Harry Duerson and Nancy his wife, William Oliver and Anny his wife and Charles Beazley, Elizabeth Beazley, and Mary Beazley. Ephraim Beazley, deceased, father of the above named William, Ephraim, Sarah, Nancy, Ann, Charles, Elizabeth, Mary and Harry did in his lifetime sell to the above named Harry Beazley a tract of land and received of him the sum of 94 pounds ... for aforesaid land whereon the said Harry now resides, the marks and bounds as herafter [sic] described and our father Ephraim Beazley not having it in his power to convey by Deed to Harry the same.

We the legatees and heirs of Ephraim Beazley, deceased, think it just that our father's intention should be carried into affect, and we do collectively and individually for ourselves and heirs acknowledge the receipt of the aforesaid 94 pounds and each of us for ourselves our heirs do doth convey in fee simple (as it was the intention of our father) unto the said Harry Beazley his heirs and forever the tract or parcel of land aforesaid the bounds of which is as follows ... "A Particular list of each Dwelling House which with the out houses appertenant thereto, and the lot on which the same are erected, not exceeding two acres in any case, were owned possessed or occupied on the 1st Day of October 1798, in the _____ of _____ being within the Spotsylvania Assessment District in the State of Virginia, and exceeding the value of one hundred Dollars."

Beasley, Ephraim Sen.

Owned 1 house 20x16 feet; 1 story, made of wood; 2 windows; outhouses included a kitchen made of hewed logs covered by planks, 16x16 feet. Included a shed 24x8 feet; a corn house made of hewed logs 12x12 feet covered with boards; and a meat house made of hewed logs, 12x12 feet covered with boards; on two acres between the "Po & Ta" valued at $200.

His son, Beasley, Ephraim Jr.

Owned 1 house 24x24 feet, 1 story, made of wood, with 2 windows; outhouses included a kitchen of hewed logs 16x16 covered with boards; a corn house made of hewed logs 16x12 feet covered with boards; and a meat house made of hewed logs, 12x12 feet covered with boards; on two acres between the "Po & Ta" valued at $200. It was noted that the "Dwelling House out of repair." Valued at $180.
